Candidate Comment:

“ During the campaign for the Board of Selectmen and especially the First Selectmen the Democratic party is pledging to put Suffield First!  What that means to me is that when elected, I will do what is the best for the town and the citizens of Suffield that I represent. I will not act in a partisan manner when appointments to committees and town commissions need to be made, but will fairly evaluate each candidate and endorse those that bring the best qualification to the job.  Decisions will be based upon the professional experience I bring to the position and it is my responsibility to protect the citizens of Suffield in all areas of town governance. There are issues that need to be addressed, things that have not been taken care of over the last few years like the town infrastructure.  Your town hall has leaking roofs, roads need repair, we are technologically behind the point where most citizens are in their own homes. Grants and town funds are available for many projects but they don’t get completed because key “little things” can’t seem to be accomplished. We presently don’t do a good job at maintaining what we have. Deferred maintenance has always cost us more when it is finally done. While the Board of Selectmen doesn’t have direct control over all the issues, they do have direct access to the various board and commissions that do.  I know that Suffield works best when we all work together. It is time to stop studying issues and get working on them.  I want to put Suffield First!”
